Moores Building Performance Part 2 (execution)

"Jump High"

"Spin Fast"

A brief dance between mind, muscle and nervous system.

The Moores Performance was a three day process beginning with me (Roderick) learning how to do a forward flip. I had never done one, without the aid of a Trampoline or such, so two days consisted mainly of getting my body used to spinning. I did small children-like, floor "Forward Rolls" to begin with. Next step was "Dive-forward rolls" and onto 3/4 flips landing on my back on a mat (a swag - I didnt want this to be a total gymnastic exercise. I wanted some form of domestic or DIY). All this was documented and shown for my final performance on a TV.

What I had built up, my repetitive failures that moved towards improvement and, hopefully, ultimate success, became my only drive. Well, and fear of failure. To jump high and spin as fast as I could. Conditioning of my body and its relationship with my belief in myself. It seemed to be mind controlling body and body controlling mind. An internal battle. An everyday one, only slightly focussed or concentrated.
